Welcome You are cordially invited to participate in GFEEF 2009 of IUFRO, which will take place in Nanjing, China. The First Global Forum of Ecological Economics in Forestry (GFEEF): ¡°Harmonious Future for Human Well-being¡± will be held in Nanjing, China, during the period August 19-21, 2009. Being organized by The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), Nanjing Forestry University(NJFU), China, Seoul National University(SNU), South Korea, Chinese Society of Forest Economics(CSFE), China, as well as sponsored by various international societies. Ecological economics is a transdisciplinary academic research within economics that aims to address the interdependence between economies and ecosystems. It is an economic state of harmonious development between ecology and economy. The forum will focus on the harmonious development between ecology and economy in forestry. It aims to nature, justice, efficiency, and how to operate an economy within the ecological constraints of the earth¡¯s natural resources. These cover all aspects of Ecological Economics Theory, Forest Ecosystem Management, Forest Ecological Industries, Estimation Technology of Forest Ecology, and Forest Ecological Policies. The GFEEF will include keynote presentations by internationally distinguished researchers and significant contributed papers emphasizing all core areas of ecological economics in forestry. Presentations and discussions will emphasize theories and practices that are needed to achieve sustainable development, guide ecological economic analysis, and incorporate irreversibility of environmental change and uncertainty of long-term outcomes in forest management and policy. Ongoing studies in various fields of ecological economics in forestry will be presented in parallel sessions of the conference and in a poster session.
